Episode 85 of The JamBase Podcast, a partner of the Osiris Media Network, features an interview with Rebelution frontman Eric Rachmany. JamBase’s Andy Kahn interviewed Rachmany, who plays guitar and is the band’s primary songwriter, about the group’s newly released album, In The Moment.
The interview with Rachmany took place recently over a video call from his home in California. He spoke about the band’s process of recording the album completely remotely, with each member of the group tracking themselves separately. Rebelution’s touring guitarist Kyle Ahern produced the album, and Rachmany detailed how he was integral in bringing the songs together for a cohesive sound and vibe across In The Moment.
Rachmany explained the band’s decision to employ guests on the album, and why it’s important for Rebelution to collaborate with Jamaican reggae artists like Kabaka Pyramid, Keznamdi and Busy Signal. At the time of the interview a couple of weeks ago, Eric revealed the band had yet to play together in the same room since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, but they would be getting together soon to rehearse for their Good Vibes Summer Tour that begins next month and will feature Steel Pulse, The Green, Keznamdi and DJ Mackle on select dates.
Rachmany also recalled his time spent on the island of Guam during last year’s pandemic. He was married last year and had his first child, and discussed the experience of being on the island with his newly formed family.
