When SPIN spoke with Roosevelt’s Marius Lauber in February, he teased an upcoming track featuring “a big hero” of his. That song, “Passion,” is out now and sports the signature guitar work of legendary musician/producer Nile Rodgers, as well as vocals from Bim Amoako-Gyampah.

“Nile has been one of my biggest influences over the years, so working on a track together with him was an absolute dream come true,” Lauber says. “The track had many different shapes and forms over almost two years, so I’m happy to finally have a version that I’m happy with. Nile and I worked on the track remotely via phone calls and e-mails, before I finally met him in L.A. to celebrate the completion of it. The man is a living legend to me, and just talking to him about the early disco days was such a big inspiration. ‘Passion’ is an ode to Studio 54 — an homage to the energy and ecstasy of late ‘70s disco.”

“Passion” is Roosevelt’s first new music since his 2021 album Polydans, which dabbled in everything from the Bee Gees, yacht rock, French house and sleek ‘80s pop. Lauber begins a European tour May 26 in Hamburg and will return to the U.S. for a mix of live dates and DJ sets starting June 11 in Palm Springs, California.
