My Dress-Up Darling

It’s no secret that Akari Akase‘s debut single and ending theme song to the My Dress-Up Darling TV anime is a bop, with the full music video passing 7 million views on YouTube since it premiered on January 9 – that’s a lot of views in only three short months!

Akase commented on the milestone, saying “Thank you so much for 7 million views! I am beyond happy that so many people have been watching the video even after the anime has finished airing!”

The song isn’t just doing well on YouTube, the promotional hashtag/trend on TikTok has reached over 3.6 million people, with the sound itself reaching well beyond that amount. The trend started with Akase, who got her start cosplaying and doing videos on the platform, and is a TikTok version of “Koi no Yukue” that simplifies the dance seen in the music video for the song. Click here to see the dance on TikTok

The My Dress-Up Darling TV anime is directed by Keisuke Shinohara and features animation produced at CloverWorks. The anime series began on January 8 and streamed weekly right here on Crunchyroll, which describes the series as such:

Wakana Gojo is a high school boy who wants to become a kashirashi–a master craftsman who makes traditional Japanese Hina dolls. Though he’s gung-ho about the craft, he knows nothing about the latest trends, and has a hard time fitting in with his class. The popular kids–especially one girl, Marin Kitagawa–seem like they live in a completely different world. That all changes one day, when she shares an unexpected secret with him, and their completely different worlds collide.
